What's On @
The Anchor Bar
Sat 31st May

Home Made Jam: 3 - 5pm

Their music ranges from up-tempo bluegrass and old-time tunes, to the sweet sounds of gospel harmonies. As well as the standard bluegrass arrangements with guitar, banjo, mandolin, fiddle and bass, Home Made Jam do a mixture of country, folk, blues and of course, Scottish flavours.

Hercules Mandarin: 6 - 8 pm

A singer/songwriter based in Glasgow and a regular on the Glasgow music circuit. Debut album 'Blonde. Drunk. Brilliant.' was released last summer and they are shortly going to enter the 'pre-production' stage for the next album, scheduled for release in summer 2008. A slight change from the norm, they are going to do an acoustic folk set.
Sun 1st June

Alastair Hugh Artingstall: 3 - 5pm

Born in Birmingham but now London based, '07 saw Alastair playing across the UK, Spain and Canada. His folky sound, with hints of bluegrass and country still retains an essential Englishness. As he says, imagine Noel Coward playing Bluegrass and you'll still be wide of the mark!

David Ward Maclean & Samantha Whates: 6.30 - 8.30pm

Born in Clydebank, street musician David Ward Maclean has travelled throughout the UK and Europe, finally settling in York in 1988. His soulful voice and intricate musicianship ensure he's one to remember.

London-based singer-songwriter and former Montrosian, Samantha Whates, is renowned for writing songs with remarkable subtlety and delicacy. Her enchanting voice demands attention and those who hear her play are guaranteed to want more.
