What's On @
Sat 31st May
Alastair Hugh Artingstall: 1.00pm - 3.00pm (Bar)

Born in Birmingham but now London based, '07 saw Alastair playing across the UK, Spain and Canada. His folky sound, with hints of bluegrass and country still retains an essential Englishness. As he says, imagine Noel Coward playing Bluegrass and you'll still be wide of the mark!

The Five Aces: 2.30 - 4.30pm (Lounge)
Their brand of music spans the period between the late 50's & 60's where rhythm & blues had almost started to develop into soul, and hammond organs played instrumentals that girls danced to. Rock 'n' roll was all about the twist, the monkey & 1001 other dance crazes and beat was not yet beaten into submission by the rock.

Bratach Bana: 4 - 6pm (Bar)

One of the North East of Scotland's newest traditional folk bands, formed out of the talented membership of the Ugie Folk Club, Bratach Bana reflect the traditional appeal of the mythical fairy flag that they name themselves after.

Malinky: 5.30 - 7.30pm (Lounge)
From winning an inaugural Danny Award for their open-stage performance at the ‘99 Celtic Connections festival, to the all-round rave reviews garnered by their sophomore album, 3 Ravens, in ‘02, this Scots/Irish five-piece have emerged as one of the hottest properties on the international Celtic scene.

Gerry Jablonski: 7 - 9pm (Bar)
Fusion at it's best. Gerry plays acoustic guitar in an extraordinary way. He uses only his guitar and a few pedals but emanates the sound of a 4 or 5 piece band. His music is in a category of it's own, mixing blues, rock, ballads and folk, mostly his own compositions but some great covers thrown in too.

The Blue Hyenas: 10pm - 1am (Bar)
"Laughing In The Face Of The Blues", The Blue Hyenas are a top Edinburgh based blues trio and have been around since the early 90s. Founder member Sandy "Beaches" Tweeddale's powerful vocals and impressive mix of guitar styles gives the Hyenas their unique sound.

Sun 1st June

Lyndon Anderson Band: 1 - 3pm (Bar)
When it comes to the blues, The Lyndon Anderson Band have all the bases covered, whether it's a 1950's Chess classic, a chunk of 70's funk, a rocking Texas shuffle, jazz influenced west coast swing or one of their many originals, they play it all with style, authority and taste.

Bacchanal: 4.30 - 7.30pm (Bar)
Bacchanal are a 5 piece Blues & Rock band from Fife in Scotland. They've been on the go for more than 10 years playing anywhere and everywhere. 2007 saw them play, among other gigs, the Bell Rock Blues Festival in Arbroath.

Survivors Night: 8pm till late … (Bar)
For those that can last the pace, there's a survivors open mic session here at The Black Abbot on Sunday night. PA and mics will be set up and ready to go for anyone wanting to play a small set, although spots may be limited if lots of people want to play. Bring along your instrument, plug in, and do your thing. A free buffet will be provided along with the music and the craic.
